Ndani ya mwaka wa 6AH barua zilipigwa muhuri wa Mtume SAAW kuelekezwa kwa watawala mbalimbali kuwalingania Uislamu. Ndipo upande wa Sham, sahaba Al-Harith bin Umair Al-Azdy (R.A) alitumwa na barua ya Mtume (SAAW) ili amfikishie mtawala wa Busra. Njiani Gavana wa Al-Balqi anayejuulikana kwa jina la Shurahabil kwa kibri na jeuri walimfunga kamba na kumkata kichwa wakamuuwa balozi huyo wa Mtume SAAW.
Mtume (S.A.W)akaandaa jeshi kukabiliana na warumi waliokuwa watawala wa biladu Sham ndani ya mwezi kama huu wa mfunguo nane (jumadu l-ula) mwaka wa 8AH. Kikosi cha Waislamu kilielekea upande wa Kaskazini (Sham) huku idadi ya wapiganaji wa Kiislamu ilikuwa ni 3000.
Wakati Waislamu wakipanga mikakati ya uvamizi wakapata taarifa kutoka Sham kwamba warumi wameshaandaa jeshi la wapiganaji 100,000. Mtume SAAW alikwishapanga majemadari wa vita hivi, na wa awali ni Zaid bin Harthah ambae alishika bendera ya Waislamu akaongoza jeshi mpaka akapata shahada. Hapo akafuatia Jaafar bin Abu Talib kuongoza jeshi naye akauwawa shahid, na hivyo jemadari wa tatu akawa Abdallah bin Rawah nae pia akapata shahada. Waislamu wakamchaguwa Khalid bin Walid kuwa jemadari wa nne baada ya wale majemadari waliochaguliwa na Mtume SAAW kupata shahada.
